“I read this wonderful book last year. I read some of the comments about it, most of them really negative. I actually don't understand how so many people could not like it. In my opinion is a rare piece of literature, from the witty descriptions of the cranes to the insight introspetcions of the characters. Anyway it's the best book I read last year.”
“I am half way through this book, and I have hated every second of it. I typically find that when I don't like a book, it's because it touches on topics about which I am uncomfortable or sensitive. So, I keep reading, keep trying to find something compelling, but I can't find a thing. I am tremendously disappointed in this book. If I am wrong and should continue, please let me know. Otherwise, I plan to abandon it for more stimulating reading.”
“I FINALLY finished this book and what a relief!!! I, too, was hoping the book would get better or at least more interesting. I just didn't get anything out of this book. It's nice to know I wasn't the only one agonizing through this book!”
“I did not take anything away from reading this book in the least. I have to admit that I finished it, thinking it would get better, but no luck there. I chose this book because I had seen it on a few Best Of Lists. I just don't get what other people see in it. Don't waste your time on this one. If I could get the time back that I spent reading it, I would be ecstatic. Learned some things about cranes, but that's about it. Strange and boring.”
“this book was HORRENDOUS!!! I can't believe I wasted my time reading this drivel.”
“This book is slow to get into but am definately enjoying it at page 275”
“My comment on another book 'got' attached to this one, so I'll try again... The rating is the same. I love the Echos for the incredibly sensitive portraits of both nature and human nature. And... it would be so interesting to see what would happen if Powers injected a spiritual aspect. Would he have a new view of identity?”
“Was Karin's boyfriend in love with her brother?I didn't really understand this allusion...”
