Characters edit see section history

  • Kaye: Kaye is a tough, street-smart, and sarcastic teenage girl who has always had an active imagination. As a child, she had three faerie friends-Spike, Lutie, and Gristle, and was also acquainted with the Thistlewitch. Since then she moved to a more urban part of the state with her mother, a musician.
  • Roiben: Roiben is an often morose-seeming, powerful faerie in service to the Unseelie Queen. He is a skilled fighter, and in addition is skilled in devising riddles and has a witty, often biting remark for most things people say. It's clear that he is accustomed to the proper way of speaking found in the faerie courts, but throughout the books seems to adopt a more modern way of speaking. He has long silver hair and silver eyes, and pale skin.
  • Cornelius Stone: "Corny" is Janet's brother, and a friend of Kayeis a guy that doesn't seem to fit in anywhere; he sits in his room all day and reads manga and watches anime and Star Trek movies. He's curious, however, and when a situation comes up that seems like it may be interesting he jumps in to help.
  • Spike: Kaye's friend from childhood. He is a faerie.
  • Lutie-Loo: Kaye's friend from childhood. She is a faerie. Lutie-Loo is only a few inches high with cornsilk hair and wings the classic 'Tinkerbell'.

  • Janet Stone: Janet is Kaye's friend that she has had since she was young. She favors strange, off-the-wall clothes, and is skeptical of Kaye's mental health due to her strange stories.
  • Kenny: Janet's boyfriend.
  • Nephamael: Nephamael is a sadistic, witty, cunning and powerful faerie in service of the Seelie queen, though he appears to care more for the Unseelie queen. He seems to have a preference for men. His favorite past-time appears to be tormenting Roiben in any way he knows of, and generally mocking everything. He has pale skin, dark hair and glowing yellow eyes, and wears a clock with thorns embedded throughout the inside and a circlet of iron on his brow.
  • Ellen: Ellen is Kaye's mother, a dysfunctional and immature woman. She spends all of her time playing concerts with the various bands she becomes members of, leaving Kaye to mostly fend for herself.
  • Fatima: a friend of Kaye.
