I will never understand why everyone thinks these books are so incredible. Are they good? Sure. Worth reading? Absolutely. But they just aren't the miracle to young adult fiction that everyone seems to think they are. It is mediocre writing. There are YA series out there that are written MUCH better. There are main characters out there that are better role models for young women. There are definitely more creative plots and universes. Read it and enjoy it, but don't bow down at its altar!

In short, Meyer is an amazing storyteller, just not an amazing writer.

I think you took the words right out of my mouth. I mean, I get the teen appeal, but the total adoration boderline obsession? It's not that great. I can think of way better series (L.O.S.T. for instance). I enjoyed the story, but I couldn't relate to Bella at all.

I really enjoyed this series. It is a young adult book, but adults are also pulled into it. I am an English teacher and I read it because I wanted to see what my kids were reading, but before long, I had the entire series read in a week. I like to see my students reading 700 pages when before they wouldn't read at all - It is kind of like the Harry Potter series that got many children reading and parents reading to their children.

Twiligjt need not be a miracle. An opinion is an opinion and if we say that it is a miracle, then to us, nothing can convince us otherwise. The characters of Twilight weren't made to revolutionize human habits but rather to tell a simple related-to life story. Who said they're meant to be role models? They have many flaws, and those flaws are deliberate because a perfect world is rather boring to read about and I think we can agree that SM had enough sense when it comes to that. There is no point comparing Twilight because it is unique, and its plotline developed from a dream. Of course there are more creative plots, but why should that be a reason for us to not praise Twilight? As for the amazign storyteller line, yes, she is anamazign storyteller. SHE IS AN AMAZING WRITER TOO. Have you read the Host? Have you analyzed step by step th writing technique and vocabulary of the Twilight saga? I think not. If we want to bow down to its altar, we can, because we love it and it deserves every ounce of praise it gets.
