I will never understand why everyone thinks these books are so incredible. Are they good? Sure. Worth reading? Absolutely. But they just aren't the miracle to young adult fiction that everyone seems to think they are. It is mediocre writing. There are YA series out there that are written MUCH better. There are main characters out there that are better role models for young women. There are definitely more creative plots and universes. Read it and enjoy it, but don't bow down at its altar!

In short, Meyer is an amazing storyteller, just not an amazing writer.

I fully agree with U. Compared to Bram Stoker's Dracula or some other Gothic writings it falls on its back flat. However, it is a very straight forward light reading and should b left @ that.

I agree with you, partially. But that's Stephenie Meyer's point, too. She wants to be a good storyteller, not writer. And the books are amazing stories. And nobody can ever be the perfect role model that is why so many people can relate to Twilight.

well, im sorry but most others of us find a very different opinion, aside from enjoying the book. this book is great and i think that meyer is an amazing writer which is why she is number one, and not j.k. rowling. (dont get me wrong, i love harry potter) im sorry your opinion isnt the best one yet. :[

If this story is not of a superior nature, what do you suggest to read? I am currently reading the first in this series and find it cute and calmng. (I enjoy stories sometimes that, not neccessarily stimulates my brain, but just gets it off the worries of life). If you had any suggestions however, I am looking for some new authors to read. I would much appreciate any suggestion! :)

Well said. I was chatting with friends of mine who are reading the series right now and we agreed with your opinion exactly. It is a fun series to read and talk about, especially YA students. As a 30 something book club member, I'm enjoying it as well and look forward to finishing the series. Does everyone agree with me? No, but it is a well told story.

I think that they are incredible because even though there are so many "better written" YA books, this book has one of the BEST stories. That's what really appeals to people a lot of the time.

I agree. I think that those who absolutely love this book are the young female teens. The story definitely spoke to my past of trying to fit in, high school, and my first major crush. However, I strongly agree with Kristin that this book is good, entertaining, but not the best book ever written. There have been several references and comparisons to Harry Potter, but Potter was intriguing, the characters wonderfully written, and the stories always kept me in suspense. I did not get the same experience with Twilight.

Just my opinion Stephanie Meyer is an AMAZING writer AND story teller at that! Obviously she wouldn't have so many fans if this was not true.

People like these books because EVERYONE wants to fall in love. Every average, plain girl wants the hot untouchable guy to be completely obsessed with her and no one else. I agree, their fluff, but it's relaxing, and I agree, they are good stories. They're an escape from a world where husbands don't sparkle and babies aren't reading Whitman at 3 months old. ha ha I can't wait for a 5th book. I wonder if Bella will yell at Edward for not taking out the trash like a real wife . . . LoL

Tell me, could YOU tell this amazing story better? Could YOU make this story better than it is? Could YOU captivate readers the way she does? No, no and NO! So stop telling everyone that she's not an amazing author, cause then you're lying to the world? Got it? You probably don't, but I hope I got something through your head.
