You are obivously unhappy about the astounding sucess rate of this book, and I agree that some individuals go way overboard with their belief in this fantacy book, but must you really insult teenage girls (assuming that you were one once) but refering to their collective taste as 'mindless and goofy'? Must you really downplay the desire that almost ever teen female has for someone to sweep them off their feet? Do you also go around scoffing at Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty? Classic fariytales? You graciously admit to some level of enjoyment, but have all adult really become so cyinical and realistic as to not believe in the power of true love and timeless romance, even if it is only the product of a fellow adult's imagination? If you have, then I pity you and those who your comments will pull away from a good, if not educational or rational, book.

Who's the one insulting teenaged girls? Just because you're a teenager doesn't mean you have bad taste in books. I would have hated this as a teen and dislike it now.

You are so right. I being a tenage girl would love to have somebody sweep me off my feet. It actualy makes me jealous of Bella! It is a great book andi would never consider it "fluff".

I would have to agree with frieda t here, not all teenagers read fluff, there are others who want a bit more challenge than the usual damsel in distress and knight in shining armor romance.

I agree with genni because I loved this book. Even though, in my opinion, the story could never happen in real life, it is fun to fantisize about that kind of true love.

I agree with you all the way. If you don't like them and all you are going to do is insult the readers than don't read it. very good points!

I agree. Bella is a strong female role. She is an above normal teenager, very mature and loving. She doesn't just expect to be saved, but she is a human surrounded by Vampires. It's like superman and Lois Lane. They each have their strengths.

Genni, I completely agree with you. I don't go around looking for the books that I absolutely hate and then turn around and bash the readers. I am a teenager who absolutely loves this series. And there is nothing wrong with that, people have different tastes. Also, aren't adults always complaining how kids don't read enough nowadays? What does it matter what we read, as long as we read?

The serious issue is, Twilight does not represent "true love" and "timeless romance". True love is something real. Twilight represents nothing that is conceivably real. Only a fool would try to recreate such disgustingly blind devotion and dreamy unreality into their own life. They would try to become exasperatingly attached to someone, and create some affection that is ghastly and unreal. A lie.

Ok see, I'm a teenage girl and I thought that the book was stupid. And yes we teens do want someone to "sweep us off our feet" but that doesn't mean the guy can't have SOME compatability with the lead. And timeless romance is wonderful when its ACTUALLY BELIEVABLE. Teen girls don't enjoy Twilight. Preteen girls do. Take that idea with you to the philosophy shop. and her review was nicer than mine about the book. You are just upset because someone dared to insult the massses which probably include someone you know. And the book sucked. And there was no WAY that it was either educational OR rational. It was the most irrational thing I've ever read, and I'm in the middle of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series! And shame on you for attempting to belittle someone else for having a different opinion. that is a right we have and your "superiority" that you are attempting to portray merely makes you look like an egoisit who doesn't know what she's talking about. I'm sorry to inult you but I will not stand for someone acting like they are better than anyone with a varying opinion. Stephen King said that the biggest difference between Stephanie Meyer and J.K. Rowling is that Rowling can actually write. Stephen King. Think about it for a minute and then say what you wil.l I happily accept any challenge you have on my opinion.

I agree with Rachel, I'm a teen girl and I hate twilight, and not a single person I know likes it. And anyway, who was insulting teenagers in the first place? Just because Bella is a goofy, mindless teenager dosen't mean that she was talking about EVERY teenager. And, the one thing you got wrong here is this: Twilight never has, never was, and never will be a classic fairytale, or nowhere near as great. And explain to me this: How is Twilight an educational, rational book? You know what it's teaching girls? Thats right: nothing. Nothing! Just like Stephen King said: The only difference between Stephenie Meyer and J.K Rowling is that Rowling can write.

It is insulting to me as a teenage girl that others my age read this trash. It's terrible from the writting to the plot to the Mary-Sue narrator. I have no problem admitting that the majority of my age demographic has awful taste in books. The girls at my school who read this are the ditzy ones who obviously have never picked up a book before in their life. It very much is fluff.
