A quote from this book pushed me from being an agnostic to an atheist. It was this."There are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on the entire earth" In this light how absurdly vain is it to think the earth is someplace special in a gods eye. It is special because we evolved...

I actually read it long time ago, but this remains one of my best books on the Universe. Easy to read with a lot of complex physics simplified in terms laymen can understand. Rating: 8/10

One of the finest books i have ever read. Science populizer and astrophysicist Mr.Carl Sagan introduces us to the mysteries of the space, as well as our past. A must read for all fans of science.

Cosmos was first published in 1980s by Carl Sagan. Cosmos is based on 13 episodes of Cosmos TV series. Cosmos is about past , present and future of science. It gives a brief biography of famous scientists and their contribution to modern science. Sagan talks about our solar system and goes alot further. Sagan talks about existential life
and believes there has to be other life out there in a giant space.

“ Carl's my hero. Through his eloquent sense of wonderment, he opened my eyes forever. Catch his TV series on YouTube.

Cosmos is by far my favorite book of any genre. The way Carl Sagan manages to blend so many different subjects (philosophy, psychology, history, mythology, cosmology, astronomy, biology, and more!) into one cohesive “science” book, that is both readable and highly informational, is amazing. Read any chapter from this book on its own and you will come away with at least one new piece of knowledge that will expand your thinking.

Each information rich chapter begins with thought provoking quotes from great minds of the past and ends with Sagan’s thoughtful musings on the subject at hand. Some of the science can be hard to understand without background knowledge (which caused me to research and learn more!), but overall I found the book to be extremely engaging and beautifully written. I thought about life differently after reading Cosmos.

I had been wanting to read this for a long time. On the whole the book was quite interesting. Sagan has a witty twist in explaining universe in which we live. Yes, a bit of the science is dated, due to the 1980 copyright, but on the whole the theories seem to still stand up for me. A person who espouses creationism or believes that the human race is only 4,000 yrs. old (as does my step-daughter's church) would have difficulty in Sagan's scientific views and theory. It simply added another dimension to what I have thought about over the years. Although, I must admit that I haven't had a science class since 1971. Therefore, some of the more scientific data flew over my head!
