Ella Enchanted is based on Cinderella. In a way, she's magical.

She meets Hattie and Olive, sisters who learn about the curse and use it to make her do horrible things. Her friendships are torn away from her and of course the love of her life, Prince Char. She goes on an adventure to contront the fairy who gave her the gift and figure out a way to get rid of it before it destroys her. She is the only one who can break the curse or risk the lives of those around her.

Ella was put under a spell of obedience when she was born. She must do everything anyone tells her to, all the time. She tries to escape her family and school and meets Prince Charmont, and they begin writing letters to each other. They fall in love through their writing, but Ella realizes that her curse could cause him or the kingdom harm. She lies and says that she has eloped with another man. At Char's homecoming masquerade, Ella is unmasked while dancing with him. She runs away, but as soon as he finds her, he orders her to marry him. She says no, and in standing up for herself, her curse is broken. She is able to do what she wants, and they live happily ever after.

This Newberry Honor winner, is a lighthearted fairy tale of a girl named Ella. When Ella is born, a fairy godmother gives her the gift of obedience. This seems like a great thing, but as Ella gets older she realizes she cannot say no to anything. This puts Ella in a tough situation. She gets made fun of at school, and she stays very guarded. Later on her life, she gets the opportunity to meet a prince, but through a long and twisted story, she ends up getting told to kill him, and she is not sure if she can beat it.

This book is a great book, especially for middle school aged girls! I would definitely keep it in my classroom and recommend it to students, but I would not have the class read it because I don't think boys would love it too much.

This is an amazing version of the Cinderella story. Ella is cursed at birth with the "gift" of obedience. After her mother dies, Ella decides to find Lucinda and ask her to take away her curse. The magic, ogres, fairies, and princes make this story a wonderful fantasy for children of all ages, especially girls.

This book is about a girl named Ella who gets cursed at birth with obedience by a fairy. She tries to get away from her dad and stepsisters and ends up meeting the prince. Later in the story she is able to break the curse with her own will. I liked this story because it was interesting to see what was going to happen to her and if she was going to break the curse or not. I would have older children read it because I think they would really enjoy all the adventure in it.

Ella Enchanted is a twisted fairy tale about a blessing gone wrong. The author was amazingly creative and kept me reading the whole time. I finished the book in just three sittings.
