“This a great book about a young girl, not wanting to get married. She has a curse on her of obedience. She realizes at the end she has broken it by saying no! Ella Enchanted has a happy ending. I recommend this book to romance lovers and readers that like happy endings.”

“I loved this book. It was so magical and interesting. It follows the story of Ella, born hundreds of years ago and placed under a spell that forces her to do anything anyone tells her. The story is an allegory of Cinderella and it is such a fantastic twist to the story. I would use this in a class of 6th - 8th graders. It is an award winning book and I know it would be great to analyze because of all the theme in it. Amazing book!!”

This 'gift' forces Ella to ALWAYS be obedient, no matter what she is told to do or how silly or horrific the outcome might be. As Ella continues to fight her 'gift' she meets a prince, gets a rather horrid step mother and two less then wonderful step sisters, and struggles with the question of what freedom is and how far she is willing to go to get it. ”
