“A fun thriller that pits a jaded Appropriations Committee staffer, Harris, and an idealistic black teen page, Viv, against professional killer hired to keep a nefarious plot secret. It all gets started when a gambling game over success of earmark deals leads to inclusion of sales of an old government owned gold mine in South Dakota in bill. Harris’ friend and fellow staffer, Matthew, gets curious about the mine, which leads to his murder. Harris knows he’s next on the hit list, so he must pursue his investigations while staying one step ahead of the hit man. Viv gets enlisted to get some useful documents and soon becomes a target as well. A trip to South Dakota to figure out what is happening at the gold mine leads to some exciting cat-and-mouse scenarios there and later in the basement of the Capitol building. Good entertainment.
