Somehow the end of a series always strikes me as anticlimactic -so much build up that the end can't possibly live up to it! It was good, and I guess I got closure, but I just wasn't ready to be done.”

I prefer books that don't have pat endings, where it almost seems as though the characters stop when the story does. With Will and friends, they live on because their story doesn't really end. ”

(And I was never particularly engaged with the Drew children.) But somewhere in the middle of the Lost Land, especially through the character of Gwion, I became much more engaged, and the last half of the book was amazing. Susan Cooper creates a beautiful fantasy here, and the conclusion is very satisfying.”

Will Stanton, Bran, Jane, Simon, and Barney must work together with Merriman to drive the Dark back for good. Arthurian legend and Celtic mythology enhance this already beautiful fantasy plot, making it one of the benchmark series in the genre of children's fantasy.”
