SO far, I really enjoy this book. Not only do I feel like I know a fictional character (Holly), but also that I know someone whom the fictional character knew and isn't actually in the book! (Gerry) In my opnion, it takes a lot of talent for a writer to make you feel close to a character, and even greater talen for you to connect with someone only in that character's memories. This book is not boring in the least bit, there is always something going on, something to figure, some way to try to make yourself better. I really enjoy reading Gerry's letters, and think they were a very thoughtful thing to do. I know a time will come in the book where his letters stop, and I really don't want that to happen. This book really makes me sit back and think about what would happen if I lost that someone so near and dear to me. I think that Holly's character is really realistic. I love that this book takes place in Ireland, because most books I read take place in America. It's very nice to have a change of scenery, and some of the slang is really funny!

I read the book prior to watching the movie and the movie I thought was a bit better. Although I loved the book and I thought the movie was somewhat different than the book!

One of the worst books i've read lately. I only liked the idea.. Nothing else. At least, you shouldn't write about SUCH sensitive subject, when you haven't experienced it.

I hated Ahern's style of writing. She was very repetitive and dragged on with a lot. I noticed a pattern. At the end of about every chapter Holly would describe how much she missed Gerry, which I understand, I mean he died, but still I understood and didn't need to be told this over and over again. To tell you the truth, I think the only reason this book got published was because Ahern is the daughter of the Prime Minister of Ireland. On thing I will admit is that I enjoyed the storyline, I just wish it was followed out by another author.
