After a devastating event in Vista passed the Barrier, Gabry realizes there might be more to the world than what she has in Vista. Her mother has always told her tales of The Forest so Gabry finally decides to take the risk and go into the forest.

  • Gabrielle "Gabry": Main character. Mary's daughter. She has been overly protected and is very timid and scared to break the rules. Lives in Vista in the lighthouse with her mother.
  • Elias: A boy who never leaves Gabrielle alone, she starts to get feelings for him and soon finds out that he is the answer to her forgotten past.
  • Catcher: Gabry's first love interest and Cira's brother.
  • Mary: Gabry's mother. Keeps the lighthouse running and clears the Mudo from the beach at every tide. The main female character in book one.
  • Cira: Gabry's best friend and Catcher's sister.
  • Daniel: He is a boy in Vista. Wants to be in the Recruiters, but was turned down because of his leg. Joins the Militia for Vista.
