As always Rita Mae Brown writes with heart. The Mrs. Murphy series is a favorite of mine and I love that the main characters grow as the series goes on. I love Harry and Fair, the animals like tucker, pewter, and of course Mrs. Murphy are a delight.

Probably the worst Mrs. Murphy book. Too political and too many new characters we don't care about.

    These animals have become tiresome.

This might be the last book I read in this series. It's just not grabbing me, and in fact, the asides are driving me nuts! Really, not using the microwave and dishwasher is just as silly as compact fluorescent bulbs and electric cars...Definitely the last one in this series that I'll read. Really don't need all of the political claptrap that clutters things up.

Love Rita's books! Animals, murder mysteries... what could be better!

Just as readable as all the mysteries in this series, but the tell on who saves the day is way too early in the book and as with some of the other more recent ones, there is a lot of hammering in on political and social views. I actually tend to agree with Brown, but I think she could do a better job with subtlety in making her point.

A lot of jumping around, not really plot twists, just confusing in spots. Not her best work.

i really didn't enjoy this book. It contained too many comments regarding the author's personal perspective on government. i just thought it was too preachy...i wouldn't bother reading it at all...unless you were a tea bagger.
