  • Danny Walker: Main character who plays basketball and goes off the the Right Way Basketball Camp in Maine. Originally from Middletown, New York, Danny's father played basketball at Syracuse University and has taught Danny everything he knows about the game. Unfortunately, Danny is shorter than most players his age and must adjust his game in order to make up for it.
  • Rasheed Hill: Danny's rival who played against him in the 12-year-old National Tournament. Still disgruntled by his team's loss, he starts to make Danny look bad, until about halfway through the camp when the two become good friends.
  • Will: Danny's best friend who is known for his jokes.
  • Lamar Parrish: Player at the camp who tries to show up everyone. Plays for the Lakers.
  • Zach Fox: A younger basketball player at Right Way, who Danny takes under his wing and helps him get through his time at Right Way. Also, he helps Danny work on his game and learn how to shoot over taller people.
  • Nick Pinto: Camp counselor who watches over Gampel, the cabin at which Danny was placed, even though he is not the same age as the rest of the kids there.
  • Richie Walker: Danny's father who was a basketball star and played college ball at Syracuse University. After a knee injury, Richie was no longer the same and began coaching Danny instead.
  • Tess Hewitt: Danny's love interest. She is his best friend back home in Middletown, but they become separated when Danny goes to Maine. However, Tess is visiting her uncle at the same time and is just across the lake from Right Way during Danny's stay there.
  • Jeff Lebow: The man who is in charge of the camp and makes sure everyone is in a cabin and helps figure out where Danny will be staying.
  • Josh Cameron: Owner of Josh Cameron's Right Way Basketball Camp and supporter of Danny Walker.
  • David Upshaw: Awesome basketball player
  • Ben Coltrane: Tall Kid that is put on Danny's team at camp.
  • Ali Walker: Danny's mom.
  • Tarik: Basketball player from New York City who is a teammate of Danny's on the Celtics while at the camp.
