Characters edit see section history

  • Maximum Ride (Max): The flock's Leader, Fang's best friend, but recently she is starting to like him. She gets jealous easily and is very protective of the flock, especially Angel. Max can fly at extremely fast speeds and developed gills in the last book, book five, along with Fang and Angel. She also has a Voice inside her head that gives her valuable information. (Not her conscience) Max has brown hair, which she inherited from her mother Dr. Martinez, and has blonde streaks. She is 15. Her half- brother is Ari and her half-sister is Ella, daughter of Dr.Martinez and Jeb. She was a test tube baby along with the rest of her flock and she is in love with Fang. Angel is quickly loosing Max's trust but soon may regain it after admitting to a huge mistake.
  • Fang: Second in command of flock, and Max's best friend. Is the strong and silent type, as described by Max. He's also the only person that Max trusts completely. He's 15. He is super cool and an under toned romantic.
  • Iggy: The blind one, loves blowing things up along with Gazzy. Also a great cook. He's 15. He is slowly regaining some eyesight, he can see colors. And even though he is blind, he can still beat gazzy at video games.
  • Nudge: The most talkative member of the flock. Fashion-loving. Age 12. Can hack into any computer system easily. Max's most loyal follower, besides Fang.
  • The Gasman (Gazzy): Likes to blow things up with Iggy. Has an 'interesting' digestive system. Age 9. Second youngest member of the flock.
  • Angel: The youngest member of the flock; yet the most talented. Can read minds, control people using her mind, and breathe under water. Angel also can speak to aquatic animals. Age 7. She is described as both creepy and sweet. In this book she betrays her flock and tries to take over leadership along with banishing Max. She thinks that everything she does is better than Max and goes against anything Jeb has to say. Later she makes a huge mistake in joining forces with Dr. Hans Gunther-Hagen and feels the consequences as Fangs fate comes to a finish.
  • Dylan: A new addition to the flock. According to Max, he's "Mr. Perfect". He was made specifically to be Max's soul-mate, but Max isn't buying it.
  • Dr. Hans Gunther-hagen: Max taunts him every time she see's him. Also called Dr. God or Dr. Hunken Gunken. He created Dylan.
  • Mr. Chu: A mad-scientist who is seriously "off his rocker". He wants to take over the world, and the way he wants to do it is appalling.
  • Jeb Batchelder: Max's "father". Worked for the school and is trying to "help" the flock. Max hates him and doesn't trust him.
  • Dr. Valencia Martinez: Max's and Ella's mom, and a veterinarian. Kind to the flock.
  • Ari: Max's half brother and eraser. Killed twice both by Max but turned into a "robot".
  • Ella Martinez: Max's half sister who she first met in Arizona.
  • Uber Director: He is another evil scientist who wants to catch and sell the bird kids for a very high price. He isn't human. He's a brain and a series of organs in glass building blocks put together to look slightly humanoid.
  • Total: A talking dog that also has wings on his back and he can use them to fly. He is in love with Akila.
  • The Voice: The voice that has been in Max since The Angel Experiment. The voice gives sound advice to Max, but in the recent books the voice has not appeared.
