“The book and movie are COMPLETELY different. Characters/situations i fell in love with in the movie were minimized or nonexistant. Also the message seemed a lot different. Still a good read though, especially if you enjoy gardening, home restoration, and FOOD! :)”

“Found this at a Singapore Airport bookstore and found it the perfect travel companion -- intelligent and with a nice aesthetic sense and with interesting stories. (MUCH different from the movie, though that was really fun in its own way.) ”

“Very interesting, especially for foodies, gardeners, and home renovators. While I'm sure many people love her prose, I am just not a fan of this kind of poetic writing.”

This book is just beautiful throughout. Descriptions of architecture, food, people, and clothing leap out from the pages. The sunny ambiance of Frances Mayes writing shines so brightly from start to finish. Great read.”
