Haven Kimmel is a very talented author. The characters in this novel stay with you long after reading the last page.

I've tried to get into this book but I can't keep the charaters straight and can't figure out where she is going in the story. I loved her other books but this one... not so much. I'm going to put it aside for a while.....

Secrets weave themselves through this novel, a dense story with a few complicated subplots. One character seems to see more than others. A good read.

Really good. Not a laugh out loud piece like Zippy but worth it.

It had its moments, but what bothered me most was that the three main characters were just too similar to make it interesting. I would have quit after a hundred pages if not for the fact that I was the one who got my book club to read it. My opinion did not change after finishing it.

I liked how all of the characters were somehow connected to each other. Interesting views on religion and how that played a role in the story.
not sure i would recommend it. it was oK.

Not my favorite book, that's for sure! It started off very slow and I was unsure about even finishing it. Around page 107 it got interesting enough to continue but ultimately I wish I has used my time reading something else. Disappointing.

I've just begun reading Haven's latest book -- having read all her others, I was eager to see how she would tie in her past stories set in IN with this one -- it is so good, I'm not going to read it fast -- her ability to combine humor and compassion and dead-on insight into the "human condition" is again so richly and uniquely her own vision. I recommend any of her books -- loved Zippy and She Got up off the Couch especially -- laughed out loud several times.

This author (who also wrote "A Girl Called Zippy") has a very cool way of putting a story together. In my opinion she's an artist of a story teller - the feeling she weaves you around her characters and settings are almost magical. At first it seems a bit confusing with all of the characters, but eventually they flesh out and you find yourself very interested in what happens to them. This is the story of three very different women who form a family bond. They also all work together at a junk emporium - my telling of the plot doesn't do it any justice - just read it!
