I have read about 1/4 of the novel so far. I have only seen the movie Troy. So I had no idea of Hellens life. So much was diffrent for her, being the only daughter of Zeus. Haveing to hide herself behind a vail, being allowed to pick her own husband. She has trials and secrets in her life that she feels she can share with no one. I am really enjoying this book and love how it is written. A must rread....

'Helen of Troy' is surprisingly different than George's previous novels, but just as thrilling to read.

Margaret George embarks us on an epic adventure, to sail the seas between ancient Greece and Troy, to weave the possibilities of history and mythology into a beautiful tapestry, to relay a story of an ancient civilization, a bloody battle and the motivations of people to walk the fine line between choice and destiny. I give this novel four stars for the spectacular writing, meticulous research and inventive twists that George inlaid. Although this is not my favorite chapter in ancient history, the story was effective at engaging and piquing my interest.

Margaret George does it again! Have read all her books, and it never fails to impress me how she never fails to bring a new prespective to history as we know/are taught it.....after all history is ALWAYS written by the victors, and she always has an interesting angle on how things might have been! Bravo Ms. George!

Although there is some question about whether or not Helen actually lived, Margaret George breathes life into her in this book.
