What a wonderful book!! This took me by surprise -- I didn't know how I would like a beta hero, but frankly, I adored him. It was a refreshing change from conniving, harsh, rake types I normally read about. Surprisingly, despite the fact that there are NO villains or bad people in the entire book, it still managed to stay interesting and fresh. I thought every interaction between Avery and Lily was sweet and endearing and very romantic. This is very much a romantics book. A keeper.

Pleasant enough romance without much to make it stand out from the crowd. Am I becoming jaded? Hmm...

Wasn't as impressed with this one of Brockway's as I was with Bridal Favors. I really enjoyed the letter corresponce section of this book and would've enjoyed the plot more if it that had lasted longer. I also would've liked if the hero had stayed the awkward and lanky guy that he was built up to be during the first half-ish of the book instead of turning into a buff stud. I did, however, enjoy that he was a little shy.

Although I usually make very good notes on every book I read and have done so for years, for some reason I have failed to make notes on three of the five Brockways I have read. My Dearest Enemy is one of those books I tried hard to like this book - even putting it down to adjust my attitude or something - I just wanted to like this one a lot. I don't know if it was that the hero was too nice (I didn't go for beta heroes that much five years ago) or that I found the story a bit boring (which I did) but it rated no higher than a B.
