“This one sticks out in my mind because of the profession. A retired jockey inherits his brother's gem business and the reader gets a crash course in geology. Interesting background and suspenseful. It's been a long time, but I would rank this one in the top third of Francis' books.”

“This is one of my all-time Francis favorites. The characters are terrific and part of the mystery is spun out until the very last page. I've read this more times than I can remember, and I enjoy it every time. ”
