“This one sticks out in my mind because of the profession. A retired jockey inherits his brother's gem business and the reader gets a crash course in geology. Interesting background and suspenseful. It's been a long time, but I would rank this one in the top third of Francis' books.”

The characters are terrific and part of the mystery is spun out until the very last page. I've read this more times than I can remember, and I enjoy it every time. ”
