Didn’t Like It

Did not enjoy the climax of it. It didnt have any thrill compared to build up that Agatha has given the first few chapters of the book. I am still not sure if Poirot has soved the mystery or not. The book gets over abruptly.

I listened to this read by Hugh Fraser. A different Poirot novel, where we meet Poirot's twin brother ... or do we?

8th novel for Agatha Christie and 5th Poirot mystery. This one is also with Hastings. Interesting, middle of the pack.

Spy stories are not Agatha Christie's genre. And this one is way over the top!

Christie's strength does not lie with thrillers like this one, and her portrayal of the Chinese characters rivals Mickey Rooney's portrayal of Mr. Yunioshi in Breakfast at Tiffany's for offensiveness, but a completist has to read this novel nonetheless. If for no other reason than that it marks the only appearance of Achille Poirot and the reappearance of Countess Rossakoff.

I thought this book was going to be interesting because the introduction sounded so mysterious and it made me want to keep reading, but when I kept reading it got very confusing of who was who and I didn't really understand what was happening. I got bored while reading the book since I didn't really understand what was happening, so I missed some scene or events happened. I'm not really into mystery books so maybe that's why I didn't understand it and couldn't concentrate while reading. I liked how the author make the first chapter sound so good and mysterious making the readers wanting to read more of it. I liked the idea of the Big Four, it made the book more interesting and appealing.

I couldn't get into this book. I gave up once I got halfway through after I still couldn't figure out who's-who and what the heck was going on. Not for me!

Good trade-length novel that shows Hercule Poirot in a constant fight against a crime ring that seeks to take over the world. There is a twist with every chapter, but the result comes out as expected--with Poirot saving the day and, in fact, the world.
