The story of a woman's life in Canada. Augusta begins to tell her story as she worries about her SIL who is ill. She is a bee keeper and she shares this with her SIL. Really interesting details. Totally different from anything I've read before.

I'm not sure I should put this on my "I've read" shelf because I didn't finish it. It just never grabbed a hold of me, and after several attempts to "get into" the book, its due date arrived and I had to return it to the library. I guess I could have renewed it, but I wasn't convinced that I...

Wonderful storytelling moving through the journey of a woman's life and her marriage from a young woman to old age. Interwoven is the story of her beekeeping and the role it plays to getting her through difficult times.

I love this so much, but now I can't remember the details. I know the bee details captured my imagination, and I remember the story's non-linear style also intrigued me. I must go back and re-read this.

It joins all the other bee lore, honey lore, honey cookbooks, books with "bee" in the title and bee science books I've collected, all because of one line in Eric Hansen's Motoring With Mohammed. The one line that sparked an idea for my graduate thesis and may someday be my life's work...beekeeping as economic development.

I accidentally read this for my book club (Was supposed to read the Secret Life of Bees) but what serendipity! Lucky me to have made that mistake!
