Librarygirl007 edited the reading level of Happy Birthday, Addy! Sunday, December 19, 2010.

      • Ages 9-12 - I think younger children at about age 7 or 8 could read this book too with help. It a wonderful book to teach children about how heart breaking and difficult life could be for most African Americans before the civil rights movements of the 1960's. The strength it took for adults to survive and make a better life for their families is shown in terms that children can understand and learn from when they read this book. Addy is a bright and caring girl that others will like and admire.
