I thoroughly enjoyed all three of these books. I, personally, loved the detail and the footnotes. Bartimeaus made me laugh out loud many times. I also thought the characters developed well - none of them ended up quite as they started out and they all changed for the better in my opinion.

There were some parts that were slow, but I loved the way Jonathan Stroud narrated it. Bartimaeus is genius and absolutely hilarious.

I thought this book was excellent. Bartimaeus is probably one of the best characters I've ever read. I absolutely adore his biting wit. I found myself sympathizing with Nathaniel, as he becomes more and more drawn into the decadent, leisurely world of wizard kind. There's still that sense of fairness and goodness in him that he struggles to maintain in an environment that's every man for himself, and I really loved Kitty's passion, both against lazy, decadent, power-hungry wizards and in the defense of her friends. She demonstrates the most courage and strength of character in this installment. I'm just sorry Jonathan Stroud has only written three books for this series. It's weighty, but so delightful.
