An excellent story, I love the sarcastic and irreverent tone of Bartimaeus towards what everyone else thinks is honorable.

Really enjoyed this. A light-hearted fantasy read, well written, funny in parts and serious in others.

Bartimaeus, a mischievous djinn from, well... down there, is summoned by the egotistical and overly confidant Nathaniel. Written with interesting footnotes from Bartimaeus himself, this book is sure to please the advanced youthful reader.

I was worried this book would be dry, but Bartimaeus's sense of humor has me hooked! I did enjoy this book immensely, enough that I may decide to finish the trilogy. It is fun and smart. If you read Harry Potter , you will probably enjoy this also!!

A simply amazing story! This author, Jonathan Stroud, perfectly mixes modern-day London with big twist of magic. Full of imps, djinni, and other demons, this is a must-read for all fifth and sixth graders. In the Bartimaeus Trilogy, London is exactly as it is today, but full of magicians! These books have portrayed in detail the magic at work in the story. Read it if you are looking for an overall enjoyable book!

my favorite character by FAR is Bartimaeus! he is hilarious and smart and very very clever. he uses his brain and some very swift acting to get out various sticky situations. he could be trapped in a situation that looks utterly hoipeless and still find a way out of it.

A lot of witty humor, although the plot is a little cliche.

I can see why people really like this series but I do not think I'll continue it. I thought that the main character was terrible and all I wanted to do was read more about the djinni. Just pretty meh.
