“Donald Burgett's story is incredible. I was lucky enough to get to hear him speak (and to have him sign my copy) in Okemos MI. If you've read Band of Brothers this is a great companion book because Don was in the 101st as well and gives a parallel but unique perspective about the trying Battle of the Bulge. I just love how blunt his writing is in this book. In particular his passage about how historians love to say that Patton bailed out the 101st and won the day, while in reality no solider from the 101st would ever characterize the 3rd Army's arrival that way.”
