“Paulo Coelho is one of my favorite authors. And this book was just as good as The Alchemist, it was a lot more exciting for the kind of people who can't really sit through a book like The Alchemist. At first I didn't realize why Veronika was choosing to kill herself, she seemed like a perfectly normal girl with a good life. But as the book progressed I realized that the reason was the whole essence of the story. So as not to ruin it, I won't say what happens but I feel like the book was really well written overall. I love Paulo Coelho's style of writing, and the story unfolded amazingly. It gave me a different view on how some people view the world, many books aren't able to do that. ”

It was a love story about a boy and a girl, and a suicidal girl and her new found love for life. "Veronika Decides to Die" takes place in a mental hospital, but the environment isn't as scary as it seems. The book was extremely well written. It is written in third person, but includes so many personal details that you feel like the characters are talking about themselves. It is also very interesting to see how Coelho introduces each character in the book. My favorite part of the book was when Dr. Igor said "An Awareness of Death Makes One Live Life Intensely". I definitely agree with that statement, live life to the fullest even without an awareness of death. ”

I don't know, it just didn't make it for me. The Alchemist was a bit better ”
“I've been curious about this one for a long time. A woman in her early twenties tries to commit suicide but instead wakes up in a mental hospital. She has to come to terms with her life and the choices she's made, and in so doing examine the world around her. I've been told that it's a novel which is inspiring to people who refuse to fit into the little boxes society maps out for us. I hope to read it sometime this year.”

“For the first time I've found a movie as good as the book.Emily Young directed the movie Veronika decides to die with Sarah Michelle Gellar as Veronika and she did a great job.The movie is powerful and her sufferance is so well expressed.Loved it!”
