This is my first Minette Walters book, and after finishing this one, I know I'll look for more. I like her style of writing, and I like the depth of her characters.

There's actually two stories going on in this book. One deals with the abduction of Connie Burns, a journalist in Baghdad, and the other concerns Jess Derbyshire, the sole survivor of her family line thanks to a tragic accident. As both stories unravel, it seems as though the abduction would be the stronger story, but...

Didn’t Like It

Strangely cool, even though sometimes, it gave you that special "Minette Walter thrill". A tad bit uninteresting, actually. And the ending was a slight yawn. Not at all compelling -- even a slight disappointment.
