Cass, Max-Ernest, Yo Yoji are members of the Terces Society. They all meet with Cass's mom at a restaurant for the blind. Cass's mom gets kidnapped and the gang known as the Midnight Sun stole her. The Midnight Sun is hiding in a zoo, and is making a chocolate makes you go into an internal slumber. Cass finds out she is adopted and, that she is the only person in the world who should knows the secret. Cass, Max-Ernest and Yo Yoji save Cass's mom from the Midnight Sun and take her home. Then Cass falls into a coma by eating the chocolate.

  • Cass: A girl with pointy ears who is a survivalist. Best friends with Yo Yoji and Ernest.
  • Simone: A "Supertaster" that has been captured by Ms. Mauvais and Dr. L, and Dr. Hugo. Who is from Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
  • Señor Hugo: A blind chef that has a cooking class that Cass and her mother attend. He is evil and wants to make the best chocolate in the world.
  • Pietro: The leader of the Terces Society, and a magician. Also he is Italian.
  • Owen: A master of disguise and head of transportation. He is really close to Cass (Cass never notices him.)
  • Mr. Wallace: Like Pietro, an old member of the Terces Society.
  • Yo-Yoji: Cass' friend. He is also a member of the Terces Society. He plays violin, taught by Master Wei, but plays electric guitar in his free time.
  • Melanie: The mother of Cass
  • Max-Ernest: Cass' friend. He is also a member of the Terces Society. Has lots of allergies and conditions.
  • Dr L.: Pietro's twin brother
  • Ms. Mauvais: Dr. L's evil sidekick
  • Daisy: Body guard for Ms. Mauvias
  • Wayne: Cass's substitute grandfather
  • Larry: Cass's other substitute grandfather.
