“Chad Fowler provides some very helpful tips on how to not only survive, but how to thrive as a software programmer. Many of these tips are not just for programmers as many of tips are focused on office politics and self-promotion, applicable to nearly all industries. From this book, I have gained a better perspective and learned some very actionable items on how I can further my career. I definitely recommend that every software programmer read this book, whether just starting out or just wanting to advance your career.
There are few things to take into consideration with this book, however: one, the book can't teach you passion, you need to bring that to the table. Secondly, Chad Fowler has good advice, albeit not always stated as clearly as it could be. I found many tips and themes repeated often. Perhaps, looking at a picture from different angles, but it still felt unnecessary.”
“Fantastic book that provides simple tips on how to build a career. Focus on development but some of the advice can be applied to other careers as well.”
