Hourglass is the third instalment to the Evernight series following Stargazer. The three books are written by Claudia Gray which is a pseudonym for the New York-Based Author Amy Vincent. The third book combats vampires, wraiths (ghosts), betrayal and of course love. The main character, Bianca Oliver is living with her rocky, shaky, strong, sturdy and passionate relationship with the head man, Lucas Ross. But Lucas is also a member of the ancient vampire hunting group Black Cross.
Hourglass reaches Bianca after she has already been accepted into the Black Cross. Even though things may feel weird at that moment, the changes are about to come three-fold, and Bianca is almost powerless. Hourglass will make you laugh, jump for joy, and most of all, cry. It is an outstanding novel. Give Claudia Gray yet another pat on the back.
“I'd rather be wrong to set you free than be right to do you harm.”Dana to Lucas
“"Good Soldiers don't sacrifice the cause for love - Lucas If the cause isn't love then it isn't worth the sacrifice-Bianca "”
“You look like hell." "Maybe I ought to be mad at you for saying that, but I know you're right.”Lucas, Bianca
“You're both acting like adolescent jackasses, but at least Lucas actually is an adolescent. Is it too much to ask for you to be the adult?”Kate
“Outside. Now." "Okay, what's up?" "They've taken Balthazar prisoner." "Hell.”Bianca, Lucas
“So why are you helping me out, Lucas? Last time I check, you still believed in the war against vampires." "You haven't checked lately, have you?”Balthazar, Lucas
“Huh, I didn't think about getting, like, a straw." "I can bite through with my fangs, or just poke a hole with your knife." "Why not fangs?" "You really don't mind seeing me like that?" "Considering how hot and heavy we've been every time I saw your fangs, I have to say I kinda like seeing you like that.”Lucas, Bianca
“I think I've figured out what we're going to do." "Yeah, I kind of figured that out, too, seeing how we're naked in bed together." "Not that, wanton woman.”Lucas, Bianca
“Are you sure you're not pregnant?" "Positive. Honestly, Lucas, I already told you that." "You cannot tell a guy you're not pregnant too many times.”Lucas, Bianca
“Okay, let me see if I have this straight. You died." "Yes." "Balthazar showed up, and he and Lucas buried you in the backyard." "Right." "So there's a dead body in my backyard, which I have to explain to my parents somehow." "I don't think they'll find it- it's behind the grounds, kind of- and, anyway, isn't that kind of beside the point?" "Not really, don't get me wrong. Compared to the rest of what's going on, it's not that big of a deal. I understand that you're having a way, way worse week than I am. Okay? But that doesn't make it any easier for me to explain to my parents about the dead body in the backyard." "True.”Vic, Bianca
“Not a ghost, but an Angel"”Lucas to Bianca
