I stole this from my brother's bookshelf one night when I ran out of library books unexpectedly (I was actually looking for 'Water for Elephants"). It was good...it was a little awkward knowing that my brother had read it, because it's sort of...well, it's special.

Liked this a lot. Miranda July has a very particular style which I suppose is probably love it or hate it... fortunately I'm in the former camp. Dreamy, odd, quirky stories. Some better than others but overall good.

I enjoyed this book. July has a very unique voice. Some stories felt off a bit, while others were great. My personal favorites are "The Shared Patio" and "How to Tell Stories to Children."

I personally loved this collection of short stories. While the characters in them are occasionally fantastical to the point of unbelievability, the clear writing style and passionate nature of each of their narratives allows me to look past that and really enjoy most of the stories. Like any collection there are a couple of duds but overall this is an excellent group of short stories: full of quirkiness, intriguing perversion and love (perhaps not in the traditional sense). If you enjoy things that are not mainstream you probably will enjoy it.

This book was fascinating. All the characters were very real and some of the situations were really strange. But it was definitely interesting.

Taken individually these stories are pretty good and even have moments that are touching, illuminating, or profound. However, I might not recommend reading it cover to cover. I found a similar nerosis running through all the stories that started to irritate me a bit. It's hard not to imagine Miranda July telling each story and her character in Me You and Everyone We Know was a little annoying. Again, as individual stories I think they are pretty good.

A lot of people don't like these stories, but I think they are too critical maybe. I like most of them, I think. I'm just attracted to bizzare story lines and characters.

Clever, nostalgic, irreverent and sexy. Miranda July has her own way of storytelling that is engaging and endearing.
