“This is the second book in The Sandman graphic novel series and although the first one failed miserably for me, this was a dark delight.
In this novel, you are introduced to Rose, who has just arrived in London to meet a previously unknown grandmother. Sadly, the grandmother is dying but has a requested. Rose must find her little brother who has been missing for years. As Rose travels around the United States, things are being shook up in the dream lands because Rose is also a vortex and she can destroy the world of dreams. The Sandman must stop Rose but he also must find four missing creations of the dream lands before they cause further destruction on humans.
I was so disappointed in the first book in this series, I've heard such great things about these books and the first one barely got three stars from me. This one though, it is a solid if not higher four star read. I really enjoyed the flow of the novel and much of the events. I did get a little bored near the middle end section but it picked back up for the very ending. If all of the remaining graphic novels are like this or better, I can see why it is considering a awarding winning series and can't waiting to get to the next one.”
“One of the most suspensful of the Sandman graphic collections. Introduces many characters who play essential parts later in the series. Also presents one of the most macabre concepts in fiction - a convention of serial killers!”

Rose, who is a dream vortex of some kind, tells her story, and meets her "grandmother." The plot thickens!”

I can really see the author's imagination and storytelling ability starting to spark. His use of the comic medium to tell the story is very strong, using parallel stories and small intercuts and asides that are effective and mostly not distracting. I would have probably felt a little frustrated reading this as it came out a month at a time, though. Some of those asides come out of nowhere and barely go anywhere before they leave you completely hanging until the next chapter/month.”

Neil Gaimen can do no wrong I'm convinced. I love how he brought all kinds of characters togehter and never wastes them they all all there for a reason it's pure genius! I love love love this series!”

I read Vol. 1: Preludes & Nocturns and really liked it, but there is a part in the middle of it that just didn't grab me. That cannot be said for "The Doll's House". I was hooked from page one, and only got more drawn into the book as it went. Even when there is a side story in the middle of the book, I was still fascinated by the tale. In fact I would say my favorite part of the book is the side story in the middle. I love getting to know Dream more and more, and seeing little bits and pieces of his fellow undying siblings. So bravo Mr. Gaiman sir, you have proven my faith in your talents yet again. I can't wait to read the next volume. ”
