I didn't expect a footballer, even my favorite footballer, to come across as Proust, and Stevie G does not. The book has an authentic voice--full of cusses and such, which gives it a real conversational tone--but it did help me learn more about my favorite soccer team, and one of its all-time greatest players. Stevie G is legend in part because he's Liverpool born and raised, and was first signed to LFC's organization at the age of 8! A fun and easy read during some recent long plane rides (I bought this copy in Heathrow on my way to Bangalore).

It's definitely a must read for any Liverpool fan. Written by Stevie G himself, the book is just like having a beer with the Liverpool Captain. If you're a Steven Gerrard fan like I am, you will revere him even more because you'll find out everything you wanted to believe about him is true. You'll never walk alone!

Bloody brilliant!! This book is everything that you ever wanted in a book. Top entertainment. Intimately Gerrard. It's a fan MUST HAVE. Either you're a Liverpudlian or a Stevie hard core (you can be both), reading it is COMPULSORY. Even if you're an England fan. I've never ever read another autobiography before but I can guarantee with my life that they're all bollocks. This book is the best autobiography ever. It is down right funny, motivational, inspiring and touching. The minute you start reading it, you'd be touched and holding back tears. You'll find yourself constantly doing that as you go back in time with Gerrard, through the remarkable journeys he has gone through all these years. Gerrard also magnificently get the readers to feel a touch of his highs scoring goals (and winning medals) for Liverpool and England. The description is so vivid you can actually feel your pulse racing and hands sweating with excitement! (I nearly accidentally dropped the book out of my hand due to the sweatiness of the palm of my hand). This book also portray a clearer picture of who Gerrard really is. A really nice bloke who loves a banter, jokes (and pranks!), loves his family to pieces (his family is everything to him), his mates on and off the pitch, a thudding hard tackle and last but not least LIVERPOOL. There are lots more you should know about him but I don't want to spoil it for you. Go on and read it yourself. As Gerrard always says, 'Bring it on'. -TOP BOOK-
