Another great book from Alan Moore. Not his best, but far superior to the film. Great art with a good story. A slightly steampunk outlook.

Would give it three and a half if I could, it was good, not 4 good but good, I like the mixture of characters from all different classics, and the air of mystery you are still feeling at the end. Over all good graphically and great storyline, will definitely continue!

Next to Watchmen, my favorite thing Alan Moore has written, pure giddy comic book extravaganza using old literary characters in place of the justice league. Post modern, mad and deviously clever, with infinite rereading power as you recognize more allusions the more your knowledge of literature grows, and the allusions aren't just there as details, but add a new layer to the story. Which is fun. I recommend these book with the utmost thumbs up.

My first contact with Moore's comics couldn't be better than this. It's complex in a good matter, daring (for using characters not created originally by him) and a must read for any comic lover. Specially if you like the 18th century scenery.

Excellent. A lot better than the dissappointing second volume. An interesting idea of a team of Victorian literary figures forming a "Super-Hero group." If you like Victorian Lit and Graphic Novels this is made for you!

This was a very good book, especially since I like to read classic sci-fi, and this has many of my favorite characters.

Infinitely better than the poorly executed, heartless action yarn from the famous film, Moore's original appendix to some of the best loved characters from the Victorian fiction marries the spirit of colonial-era storytelling with a modern sensibility that -- as with all his work -- can only be fully realised as a graphic novel.

I absolutely loved the movie and thought the whole concept of bringing a bunch of Victorian era literary characters together to fight crime was really cool. I just got into the whole graphic novel idea (I did read comic books when I was younger, so the idea wasn't totally alien to me)so I sought out these books. Having only read a couple, I would have to say Alan Moore is my favorite - he has such great ideas. League is very interesting and if you are already familiar with the novels that the characters come from (Haggard, Stoker, Verne, Stevenson, Poe, Doyle, etc) this makes for a very cool update to what these characters have been doing since we saw them last. Very good, I have the next volume waiting in the wings! Highly recommended.

A quite compelling collection of tales with a firm scent of steampunk. I was initially a little sceptical of O'Neill's art style but it becomes quite complimentary to the plot, lending many of the characters a fine and firm glare. I'm looking forward to collecting the rest of the series' volumes.
