Over-written, but provides good background on the races of Underdark that I can use in my D&D games.

Another great book about morals. this one focuses on friendship, solitude andlooking deeper. Drizzt is now out in the Underdark and has become "The Hunter", a primal version of himself(and deadlier too!). Soon Drizzt must find friends or else the solitude will close in on him and make him insane. Drizzt's mother, matron Malice, sets Zaknafein's spirit on the trail of Drizzt. but how can Drizzt hope to overcome something that doesnt bleed, fell pain or tire? especially if that someone is your only friend, mentor, and father???

The Dark Elf Trilogy's second book. It was just as surprisingly engaging as the first, though I predicted a plot point way ahead of time (and NOT just because I already knew there was a book 3!). It was amazing to me how much crap went down in this book because of ONE person. And seeing Drizzt form friendships with those of other races because his own race doesn't suit him is heartwarming. ::smile::

The main character of this story is a drow, a dark elf, named Drizzt Do'Urden. Drizzt ran away from his home city of Menzorberranzan. He lived in the underdark, which is a dark series of caverns. While he was exploring the caverns, he found a group of deep gnomes. The deep gnomes captured him. Drizzt befriended the gnomes and earned their trust. The main gnome, named Belwar Dissengulp, let Drizzt live in his house inside the city. There was drow activity like killings with drow-weapons. The gnomes accused Drizzt for the killings, so he was forced to leave the city. Belwar joined Drizzt and also left the city. In their search, they came upon a Hook Horror, a giant beast that only lived in the underdark, named Clacker, Clacker had been transformed by a wizard into a hook horror so he was still peaceful and not full of murder. Clacker befriended Drizzt and Belwar. The three were captured by Illithids, a group of squidlike creatures that use mind attacks to capture slaves. One day Belwar broke the hold and released Drizzt and Clacker from their captivity. While they were escaping, Drizzt's dead father, Caknafien, animated by Drizzt's mom, attacked them. Clacker died and Drizzt's dad gained control, until he walked off of a cliff and into an acid pool, dying. Belwar left and went home and Drizzt stayed in the underdark and lived alone.
