“The narrator of Dermaphoria is suffering from amnesia after an accident he can't quite recall, and the story follows him through flashes of memory as he tries to piece together his past and remember his lost love, Desiree. The narration is wonderful, and I enjoyed the first half of the book immensely. But once the narrator starts to put together the missing pieces, something shifts in the story for me, and I lost connection with him and his story. The book ends well, though, and I'd say overall it was a good read. It's not nearly as good as Clevenger's first novel, The Contortionist's Handbook.”
