The story is starting to unfold! This was a good followup to the first book. I like the continuing storyline, although most times this frustrates me because I just gotta know what is happening now! But it was really well done.

I was wondering when we'd see more of the romance side of...

I'm kind of glad I stuck with this series despite the cliche, Supernatural-wannabe worldbuilding of the first book. Unfortunately, I haven't really warmed up to Graves, what with the cigarettes and the nerd-turned-macho-guy personality. His character seems to alternate between hyper possessive/posturing/protective guy and lovesick puppy, neither of which particularly sparks any fondness. I guess part of my problem is just that the author seems to be pushing Dru's affections for Graves a little too hard; from the very beginning, it was like Dru suddenly found her ultimate best friend and he's just the nicest good guy ever. There's more telling than showing when it comes to their relationship. The reader is told Dru thinks of him as the last trustworthy thing, the one who'll never leave her behind, etc. but there isn't much from Graves himself to back up all the praise, unless you like his macho saving-the-damsel fights to defend her honor.

Christophe is a little better, although I don't really need to read yet another time how amazingly cold his blue eyes are or go through another one of Dru's debates about does-she or doesn't-she trust him.

Dru, at least, is more interesting than she was in the first book, although she tends to wallow in her self-pity a bit much. We get it, she had to kill her zombie daddy and that is oh-so-traumatizing. But instead of acting traumatized, she refers to it flippantly, almost sarcastically. Sure, you can say that she's trying to minimize her grief and just deal with it, but it's also a little too characteristic of YA smartass remarks, e.g. the world is supposedly ending but let's get one more wisecrack in about the teachers.

Dru Anderson finally got to the schola were Christophe said she would be safe. But can she when there is a traitor in the order and wants her dead. Meanwhile Dru is having new feelings and emotions that she is unfamiliar with.

I'm not quite sure if I love this series or just like it at this point in time. I freely admit I find it intriguing, but I'm not sure where the plot is going precisely, so I can't say whether it strikingly resembles the Twilight series in terms of its characters' characteristics and overall plot, or not. I do, however, find Dru, Christof, and Graves to be very interesting characters, and I'm very anxious to see exactly what it is that Dru becomes once she's bloomed, provided she doesn't get killed first of course. One way or the other, Lili St. Crow provides an interesting and curious tale which doesn't at all give much leeway to foretelling the future of her characters and the fate they may all share. The Strange Angels series is far more hardedged than any other I've ever read, not to mention incredibly blunt (at least when it comes from the mouths of the characters involved). I definitely plan to pursue the remaining installments of this series as I'm wondering where exactly these characters will end up and exactly what St. Crow has in store for them in the nearby future.

As heart-stopping as the first book! Make sure that you start with the first book though!

Continuing the story of Dru Anderson and her fight against evil forces trying to kill her. Are the vampires and wulfen also trying to destroy her?
