I liked it, there were only a few points where he was a bit too heavy on the description, but it was only for the length of a paragraph at worst.
The series has some noir elements and a smattering of humor. I'm reading the first book and planning on reading at least the first and third ones before jumping into something else for a while.

Interesting take on werewolves and good grief are there a lot of types ranging from the Lougarou traditional werewolf, through hexenwolf who make a deal to gain items that allow them to become wolves, lycanthropes who are humans with wolf passions, human who learn to become wolves, and wolves who learn to become humans.
