- Destiny: The main character. Lives up to her name by acting superstitious and telling non-believers stories about freaky "coincidences". Abandoned by her parents at age 7. Switched boarding schools often because she doesn't want to become attached to people then have them disappear.
- Aidan: A geek at Destiny's boarding school. Friend's with Mira and Seth and Destiny. Is reluctant to believe in superstition and Destiny's coincidence stories. Flunked kindergarten.
- Mira: A flighty girl who always looks on the bright side and thinks she's friends with everyone. Has a romantic thing for Aidan. Has webbed feet. Believes Destiny's coincidence stories and superstitions.
- Seth: A boy that caught Destiny's attention on the first day at Hedgewood. Has his drivers license, so Destiny had him drive on their road trip.
- Mr. Gardian: Destiny's parent's friend that takes care of her. His real name is Mr. Farell
