  • Cassie: Cassie is an eighteen year old girl who dreams of going to college and pursuing her dreams of becoming an Arctic researcher. Because of a fairy tale element in her life, however, these dreams are challenged.
  • Bear: The great white bear that Cassie agrees to marry in exchange for finding her mother.
  • Gram: Cassie's beloved grandmother, who always told her a fairy tale she wasn't sure if she should believe.
  • Gail: Cassie's long lost mother.
  • Max: One of Cassie's "uncles", one of her friends since she was little. He is a helicopter pilot.
