“Another typical Tony Hillerman story. I have yet to read one that I did not enjoy. My favorite character has become Cowboy Dashee. Any Apache Indian named Cowboy has to be entertaining!”

Hillerman has a style and a group of characters that is so different from any other and I really like it.”

The construction of this story is among his best.”
“I little too cute, but a funnish, easy read. Hillerman seems to be sitting on his laurels, lazy.”

None have failed at giving an insight into the world of Navajo or Hopi Spiritualism with great mystery stories. Sinister Pig is my favorite of all of them. I think I really like the human qualities of Joe Leaphorn and the simplicity of Jim Chee, but I love the female character of Bernie Manuelito. She brought this story to life and excitement.
Bernie is tired of waiting for Jim Chee to notice her and leaves for a job in the Border Patrol. She couldn't bear the death of an innocent woman and was hoping for a less interesting job along the border. Instead she becomes embroiled in a corrupt border patrol captain and a drug ring run by a wealthy man from Washington DC who thinks nothing of murdering anyone in his way.
Jim Chee comes to the rescue, but after the fact and he was sent by Leaphorn's significant other, the Professor.”
