• Annie Richards is always making sure to be careful. Whether it's wearing a bike helmet in the car, wearing about 10 bandages at one time or even wearing a bike helmet while you're walking to your friends house down the street. Ever since Annie's brother, Jared died, her life hasbeen all safe, no play. Each day she finds something new to worry about! It is becoming a problem to everyone. After everyone has lost all hope to help Annie and her need for safety, a new neighbor, Mrs. Finch moves across the street. Annie learns she has been through the loss of her husband. Her neighbor soon teaches Annie to "close her umbrella," which means don't get caught up in worrying so much and put your umbrella down and let the sun shine. Annie learns to do this slowly, but surely and ends up doing some of the things she never would have imagined herself doing again!
