I never really got into this series, not as much as the dark hunters.

After reading this book in the League series I have learned to never discount an entire series based on one (or two) other, previous books in that series or by the author. What I'm saying is precisely this: I took a chance on this book out of sheer boredom. I read it thinking I'd hate it because I didn't enjoy book one and I've not liked much of Kenyon's other work. But this book kept me thoroughly entertained and carved a massive whole out of my bleeding heart. Syn has definitely made his way onto my List of Men I Wish to Cuddle and Keep in My Pocket Forever. This story was so great and I'm actually pretty excited to read more from Sherrilyn Kenyon now.

4.5 This is my second time reading this book. First time was good second time on audio was better- I'd love to find myself some Syn to indulge my fantasies. He's just such a macho, sensitive, heartbroken, smart ass, ripped, intelligent, handsome, damaged, scared, predator, self made, man of most women's dreams. He is incarcerated wrongly, physically abused, lied to, and cheated by almost everyone he has ever known, and yet he still gives and loves. His past is not caused by his doing but of his fathers, the most notorious nasty on the books. There seem to be very few who let him forget he is his fathers son, He is alone.
The story follows the familiar path, broken man meets broken women. They don't get along, one have nefarious actions hidden to the other, There will be betrayals, lust, hate and love, all delivered painfully. They grow to know each other and what unfolds is wondrous to watch. It is a great love story with a nice geeky scifi twist.
Just pure enjoyment for my ears !

Sherrilyn Kenyon and proved that she can write science fiction just as well as urban fantasy. A definite don't miss

Sherrilyn Kenyon writes my favorite kind of romance: full of catastrophes, high-speed chases, rapid fights, and snarky A.I.s. While all her books that I've read so far seem to come from the same recipe, I still love each for different reasons. I love a writer who's not afraid to seriously beat the crap out of her characters.

    Third time reading:
The stupidity and stubborness of Syn and Shahara knows no bounds -- but at least everyone knows it.

I admit to getting tired of they're "I'm-so-in-love-but-it's-impossible-so-I'm-not-really-in-love" thoughts, so I didn't enjoy it quite as much this time around. But I still love the characters, especially Vik the A.I. The plot also is pretty good, aside from Shahara's stupidness (okay, she WAS in a tough situation, but still).

This was a good follow up to the first novel. Syn is a fun hero with a lot of diversity, it was a good read.

It's good, but I don't find it as engaging as her other novels.

Another must have in this series! I can't believe this series sat on my shelves for a year. This is another 5-star read. Born of Fire is about Syn who is terribly abused as a child and grows up strong and protective. He ends up having Shahara Dagan the best bounty hunter after him, she just happens to be one of his best friends sister. Just how is he does he handle this? Read the book, Read the series. You will love it!!!!
