“ham on rye is the first bukowski book i ever read. i was turned onto to him through my father, who is a big bukowskian and as it turns out has had over a dozen books of his stored in our garage for the past decade and a half and of my young adult life. i was hooked right away. first chapter in i felt like i had been deprived of him all this time. i was tired of reading what was more common with my age group at the time and really i've never been much of a romanticist and i personally don't believe there is anybody as raw, vulgar, crass and just downright honest as charles bukowski. i simply cannot get enough of this guy. i'll read any book of his i happen to come across and his outrageous novels and short story compositions are no let down. this man is something else all together when it comes to the literary world and that's just the truth of the matter. ”
“Honest! To me Bukowski =honesty. I can relate to Bukowski's writings easily. He wouldn't let society have all of his soul. A great writer! Write-on Bukowski!”
“watch "born into this", great documentary about bukowksi, with actual footage and interviews with the man himself.”
“Yeeeaaa! Bukowski. Great book. Gotta love Chianski. One of my favorite Bukowski books. His books are always keep my attention. I enjoy Bukowski.FYI...There is a bar in Boston called Bukowski......CHEESY!!”
“why are there only two of us posting (so far) about a bukowski book? come on people!!! bukowski was one of the greatest literary minds of our time. he didn't sugarcoat, dip it in honey or censor what he put down on paper. is it that why people didn't like him? because of his blatant, naked honesty? let them go back to their romance novels! i'll stay right here.”
“bukowski is the perfect antihero. poignant and honest.”
