Carol Shields hit me right between the eyes with this novel. Daisy Stone Goodwill, as the witness to her own life, tells the story of her ordinary existence from birth to death. What she can't possibly remember is filled in by the other players in her life: her family, her friends and others who enter and leave her circle. What is so incredibly poignant is the difference between the truth as she knows it and the perception of truth held by all those who orbit around her. Do our children, our...

So I've decided that my great regard for "Unless" was a one-hit wonder as far as Carol Shields goes. Anyone interested in three slightly used books?
