She also has knack for letting her ego (and sometimes better judgement) get her into the worst situations. In this book, her behavior was more wreckless than ever. I did enjoy reading it just so that I can follow her crazy love life, and it did not disappoint. However, as far as they mystery itself, it was not one of the better ones. The climax involving Thigpen was the best part of the book. Love the series, and plan to continue.”

Anna Pigeon is now a District Ranger on Mississippi’s Natchez Trace. As her duties include law enforcement, she is called to Mt. Locust, an old plantation and former inn, where a man’s body is found laid out in his underwear in one of the bedroom’s. Meanwhile, one of her rangers has been researching the history of an old slave cemetery on the property. And there have been signs of deer poaching on the Trace.
Once again Nevada Barr has come up with a winning combination in the continuing series of Anna Pigeon. Her descriptions of the national parks are vivid and her knowledge of the National Park Service is apparent. And I will continue on with the series.”

“My introduction into a new mystery series I think I'm going to like. Look forward to sharing more adventures with Anna Pigeon, park ranger. I started with this one because it was the one I could find at Ed McKay.”
