I didn't expect Clive Barker to be such a good writer. In one volume, there's a story about two villages that go to war with each other in the most unusual way... war? It's more like a game for them. Either way, this is some very fearless writing. Barker's got a pair like a bull, I imagine.

This series of short stories started on a note that was hard to follow, but managed to do just that. While reading you're repeatedly pulled in and out of a sensual fear. Maybe one you've had before, or one entirely new. All depending on how dark your own highway of life is.
There are a few additions that will leave you wondering for days after, until the moment the pieces clink together, and behind your eyes you grasp the full meaning. Then you let a groan with a smile and say through a laugh, "That's disgusting."

I need to read this again. I didn't finish it, and don't remember much.

Fantastic short stories, I particularly enjoy Rawhead Rex, Midnight Meat Train myself along with Dread and a few others. He is a master of short stories and scary novels

All good things start somewhere, and this is the greatest journey.

The best book of short stories I've ever read. Clive Barker can paint a very permanent picture of some disturbing things in your brain.

Most of these stories were fantastic. I loved them. My favorite story is the one about dread. You have to read it to know what I'm talking about.

Ah yes, the collection that reigned in a new king of horror. A must read for horror fans.
