“I suppose this books appeals mostly to those of us who happen to have a rather morbid sense of humor and to whom death is not a taboo. Or at least a big one. Personally, I think that death is just as natural a part of a human being's life than birth is. Although I can see how the topic would be distasteful to some, such as yourself, still I think it's something that we as humans should think about. Not every day or even once a week, but certainly sometimes.I can understand how death and the process of dying and/or being dead is intuitively a frightening thing to pretty much anyone - it's a part of our survival instinct after all - but I would hope that we could, as a species, to move beyond the stone-age impulses of our ancestors and perhaps soar higher than ever before. Books like this help the process by opening up avenues of thought and raising opinions and feelings about the subject. Maybe, just maybe, on some beautiful day, we'll be able to have open, rational and honest discussion about this immensely elusive topic; death and it's inevitability. I'll end this rant with an elegantly insightful quote from the great Mark Twain;"I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it."”
“I thought it was hilarious, and informative. There's so much people don't think about when it comes to death!”
“I've just finished this book and found it absolutely fascinating. I agree with the comments about it being humourous, although if you'd decided to read it just because it's billed as funny I agree you'd get a shock! I saw the BodyWorlds exhibition a few years ago (plastinated bodies) and found that similarly fascinating to look inside read bodies.”
“Do the worms crawl in and out and play penucle no your snout?”
“This was a great book. It was like being at a car wreck and trying to turn your head and not being able to...that feeling...She covered everything that a human body can be used for after death. Very interesting. I liked it and I liked her matter-of-fact writing style.”
“I am in the middle of this book and I just can't finish it. I like funny. In fact I totally get funny.....subtle funny, slapstick funny, sophisticated funny, oblique funny, all kinds of funny. I ordered this because it is billed as funny. It is informative, interesting in a "did I need to know this?" kind of way but funny it is not. I may or may not finish this but right now I find it distasteful, no pun intended.ashleyworks”
“I am really intrigued about composting now....”
