It sounds complicated but it is made understandable as only Forsyth can accomplish. On the night that John F. Kennedy is assassinated, a young reporter stumbles onto an event that becomes the starting point of a search for the truth about one of the many notorious SS members who escaped justice. The revelations of how the German government became an accomplice in this nationwide cover-up will make the "pardoning" of the Watergate criminals seem like childs' play. The plot is based on true people and some who are drawn from real life. It does have a tendency to get detail-oriented, but all of those details play a part in finding what happened in Riga and how this camp's existence affected the lives of people who were there twenty years later. The hunt for a notorious ex-nazi is explained in the background of international arms deals.
